Devotions: Signal the Locusts
SIGNAL THE LOCUSTS
Chaplain, Michael Mann
I’ve been facing some challenges lately & needed to hear from the Lord. In my Bible reading today I read from Ex 10. Verses 12 & 13 record, “God said to Moses: ‘Stretch your hand over Egypt & signal the locusts to cover the land of Egypt’…Moses stretched out his staff over the land of Egypt. God let loose an east wind. It blew that day and night. By morning the east wind had brought in the locusts.” (Msg)
Consider:
1.  The locusts, while a plague to Egypt, were part of God’s answer to deliver His people.
 2.  The locusts could not be seen by Moses, the Israelites, Pharaoh or the Egyptians but, apparently, were just out of sight - staged & waiting (like a military force) for the signal to appear.
3.  Moses had to give the signal for the specific deliverance. Yes, it was in obedience to the Lord but scripture seems to indicate that had Moses not given the signal then the locusts – the answer – would have remained staged & waiting out of sight – unrevealed.
4.  The locusts were brought on an “east wind.” An east wind usually meant a violent storm, etc and could have easily been mistaken for bad news. But faith and obedience saw it as God’s move and answer to prayer.
THOUGHT: What signal might the Lord be waiting for me to send so His answer for me can make its appearance?
Â
PRAYER: Lord, today tell me, direct me, show me, help me hear & see, the signal that Your answer for me is staged & waiting for me to send so Your wind may blow. And, Lord, when the wind begins to blow let me know it is Your answer on the way, not a storm to destroy. In Jesus’; Name. Amen.Â
